Job Summary:
A Scaffold Helper position assists Scaffold Builders in assembling and dismantling wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel, and sewer supports, and temporary frame shelters, according to sketches, blueprints, or company standards.
- Level IV: Competent to complete Journeyman level Scaffold tasks with minimal supervision.
Overview of Primary Duties:
- Assist with erecting and dismantling scaffolding; inspect and sort scaffolding as required.
- May load and unload scaffold components and equipment.
- Assist with set up hoisting equipment for raising and placing scaffold components.
- Ability to use ropes and harnesses or ladders to access scaffolding sites.
- Learned knowledge of drawings, assemble scaffolding from parts.
- Assist with bolt or screw sections together.
- Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of scaffold components using plumb bob, level, or other instruments.
- Cut, trim, or drill scaffold components for fit using hand and power tools.
- Ability to select gear, such as cables, pulleys, and winches, according to load weight and size, facilities, and work schedule.
- Assist with assembling and installation of supporting structures, rigging, hoists, and pulling gear, using hand and power tools.
- Assist with fabrication and care of rigging, such as slings, tackle, and ladders, using hand and power tools.
- Ability and assist with selection of scaffold component sizes and types and related materials, such as supports, hangers, and hydraulic cylinders, according to specifications.

Qualifications:
Level IV:
- Thirty-six (36) + months of heavy industrial-related scaffold experience
- Other verified experiences or certifications with scaffold experience Level III:
- Twenty-four (24) to thirty-five (35) months of heavy industrial-related scaffold experience Level II:
- Twelve (12) to twenty-three (23) months of heavy industrial-related scaffold experience Level I:
- Zero (0) to eleven (11) months of heavy industrial-related scaffold experience
- One (1) year of industrial experience
Requirements:
- Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation
- Personal hand tools required for craft as established on the Yates Industrial Minimum Tool List
- Successful completion of required Safety training to include, but not limited to, Confined Space, LOTO, and Working at Heights

- Required to wear safety-approved body harnesses when working at 4’ or above
- Required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing, and lifting
- Ability to talk and hear to communicate
- Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move heavy objects up to 25 lbs.
- Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception, and peripheral vision
